In latter days, the old grading system for DR's has evolved (?) from letters (A-H) to stars or asterisks; hence this pipe is a DR "One Star". It is a striking pipe for a number of reasons. First, while Dunhill made Zulu shapes from the early days, this one is notably more graceful than the traditional rendering, with a sinuous tapered oval shank and a well-proportioned Dublin like bowl with thick walls. Moreover, it has no stain whatsoever, and considerable "chatoyance" (iridescence), lending the grain a three-dimensional quality, and bespeaking the top quality plateaux briar from which it was cut.
Capacity is a nice group four, and the pipe is in superb condition in all regards.
