Dunhill 1937 Root Yachtsman Shape T42

This pipe is a superb example of the first generation of the "Root" finish. It's cut in a very well balanced and elegant classic yachtsman shape, from reddish Calabrian briar as specified by Alfred. It is further distinguished by a refined, tapered shank, and a lovely handcut "Cumberland" vulcanite mouthpiece with conventional tenon and subtle fishtail lip.

The nomenclature is perfectly clear, and the pipe is in outstanding condition, but for some darkening around the rim. But the underlying briar is structurally sound, and the pipe should be a first rate smoker for all types of tobacco.
